I am excited to share with you some of the initiatives I have been able to lead @Purdue during the last few years:
2018
I am currently leading a system-wide committee working towards the creation of a common online orientation for online Purdue students.
The committee recommended implementing a short, self-paced, adaptive, zero-credit module that would address various online learning readiness topics. The module would be a prerequisite or co-requisite for all Purdue students enrolling in an online course for the first time. The group determined that it would be ideal for students to complete the module prior to participating in an online class but they could also take it concurrently with their first online course. Initially, students would be prompted to take an online readiness assessment. By using an adaptive learning technology, the curriculum would be tailored to the needs of each student, by providing content and additional assessments in areas determined by the readiness assessment.
As a new Online Program Launch Director, I created a process to communicate the steps to launch new programs. This is the website and timeline that helped me start that conversation around launching new programs.
Planned and implemented a new MOOC strategy bringing FutureLearn as a new MOOC provider to the Purdue system
In collaboration with a Purdue Instructional Designer, we developed a 5 days online course for Purdue advisors. The goal of this course was to give Purdue advisors the opportunity to experience an online course, and help them advise their own students about online learning.
